Hello, valued visitor – whether fate or intention brought you here, welcome. My name is Hilary Edwards.

Professionally speaking I am a graphic design enthusiast with a passion for illustration, affinity for print, the flexibility for copywriting who dabbles in web design. I graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with focus in graphic design and illustration. 

I currently reside in Lansing, MI with PJ and our Aussie, Brooks. They are my greatest supporters and I adore them.

Chronic daydreaming and shuffling of creative ideas keeps me busy. When I'm not creating, you'll find me occasionally painting, lost in a book or laughing at my own jokes – coffee (or Cabernet) in hand.

This Sephora re-brand focuses on promoting the confidence and empowerment of women – driven by the concept that feeling beautiful outside can make you feel more beautiful inside. The logo design combines elements of the Greek alphabet, reflecting the meaning of their name currently derived from the Greek word for “beauty,” and the lotus, which is a flower that grows from the mud. Sephora gives all women tools and techniques to feel powerful, expanding their reputation beyond just a cosmetic retailer.

Gender is the characteristics pertaining to, and differentiating between, masculinity, femininity and neutrality. After determining a personal definition, this project explores the idea of gender as a social construct.

This series consists of 35 illustrations in various mediums and media depicting six parts of the human sensory system of six different people. Biologically, the featured parts are neither masculine or feminine, but exists within every human body. The viewer may perceive the color, style, and other known variables to make a personal association to gender based on subjective experience. The gender of the original model isn’t ever revealed, nor is it relevant.
